Eleventh Annual Snowfest Comes to Houston

Houston area skiers and snowboarders, it’s time once again to get ready for the upcoming snow season.  On Nov. 19-20, the eleventh annual Houston Chronicle Snowfest will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Snowfest guests interested in planning this year’s mountain vacation getaway will have the opportunity to meet with resort and lodging representatives from Alberta, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Idaho, Lake Tahoe, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming .

Snowfest promises to be a double black diamond event, featuring tons of snow molded into a tubing hill presented by Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Heavenly.  Snowfest-ers can have fun with snow in the Snow Play Center presented by Colorado Ski Country USA, Crested Butte, Winter Park, Copper, and Steamboat. 

Also featured at Snowfest will be the Houston premiere of  Warren Miller’s latest feature film, HIGHER GROUND.  Show times are Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30 & 4:15 p.m.; Nov. 20 at 11:15 a.m., 1:15 & 3:15 p.m.  And for those interested in stocking up on the latest ski gear, Snowfest offers a pre-season sale featuring merchandise from Houston Ski & Board.

Snowfest hours are Saturday, Nov. 19th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20th, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  General admission is $8, $5 for children ages 6 – 12 and children 5 and under admitted free.  Discount coupons will be available in The Houston Chronicle.  Bring a can of food for the Houston Food bank and receive $1 off General or Children’s admission (one can per person, may not be combined with other discounts).
